Tanzania 2005 Ref TS-2005

Tanzania is approximately the same size as France and presents a wealth of scouting opportunities. It is home to the ancient Massai Tribe as well as the beautiful Island of Zanibar, the magnificent Ngorogoro Crater, and Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro

UK Scouts have had connections with Tanzania in the past and by good fortune we have now been presented with an ideal opportunity to strengthen these relationships. Contact has been made with a UK Queen Scout who lives in the country. He is based in Moshi, which is located at the base of Kilimanjaro, and has an extensive knowledge of the local community and geography.

In August of 2003 a small team of UK Scouts will be travelling to Moshi to visit our fellow UK Scout. Whilst there, one of their main objectives is to liase with the Scouting officials of Tanzania. They will review potential community projects and expeditions in the area. There work will be the initial foundations of the Tanzania 2005 Expedition.

We are now actively looking to recruit expedition leaders and participants for Tanzania 2005. You may be a scout looking to achieve your Explorer Belt or a retired Leader looking to join in a community project. This expedition is being planned for the summer of 2005. It will be for open to Scouts aged 16 to 60+. A full presentation of the Tanzania 2005 expedition will be given at the Africa Network Scout Fellowship meeting, on 24th-26th October at Chalfont Heights Scout Campsite, Buckinghamshire.

This is a great opportunity to visit Tanzania and make new friends. If you are interested in joining this expedition please contact us by Email africa2@africanetwork.org.uk stating the reference TZ-2005.
